This Interactive Media Bias Chart® is a data visualization that displays measures of news (and “news-like”) articles and sources generated by analysts and staff of Ad Fontes Media. It reflects our most up-to-date ratings of all our rated articles and shows over time.

What’s New

  • Hover over a source to see overall reliability and bias scores and reach data.
  • Hover over any article to see its reliability and bias scores. Click to view the article for yourself and judge how you would have rated it
  • Click “Display article data” to see a scatter plot of each rated article
  • Click “Display source audience size” to view sources’ reach
  • Zoom in for a better view of each source, and to see the smaller reach bubbles
  • Search any news source by name to view it on the chart. Select multiple sources to compare them. View sources with or without their article data.
  • Use sliders to filter by reliability or bias scores
  • Select special views such as “Fox vs. CNN. vs. MSNBC”

Reliability scores for articles and shows are on a scale of 0-64. Scores above 24 are generally acceptable; scores above 32 are generally good.

Bias scores for articles and shows are on a scale of -42 to + 42, with higher negative scores being more left, higher positive scores being more right, and scores closer to zero being the most neutral and/or balanced.
